Mentoring and Workshops

Here at Cat and Quill, we offer support for writers at all point in their writing journeys. Writing can be a lonely affair and many want support before their manuscripts are ready for editing. This support may come in the form of learning the craft, or it may be in the form of being held accountable and recieving high quality feedback and developmental advice through the process of writing their initial drafts. Whatever support you're looking for, we're here to help with tailored one-to-one mentoring whenever you need it.

What does Mentoring Include?

Mentoring is highly tailored to the individual writer, but a typical mentoring session will involve one of our editors reading in advance a portion of your work in progress text, either something your currently working on, or if you are learning your craft, we can assign tasks. We will compile detailed feedback which we can then discuss with you over a 1 hour phone call. Your package is unique! Our Monthly mentoring package: Set weekly tasks to hold you accountable. Personalised to your specific writing goals, for example, chapters on your current novel in progress, or tasks set specifically to develop your writing style and prose.
Dedicated developmental and/or line editing of your tasks.
1 hour per week at a time of your choice to discuss your feedback and provide tailored tuition for areas of writing.

Local to Glasgow? Come Along to our In-Person 'Ask an Editor' Cafe Meetups!

We organise regular writer cafe meetups. In these sessions, come in for 2 hours of dedicated writing time, meet other writers, and best of all, get in-person advice from our editor and writing mentor Shirin Sheppard.
